In 2021, I embarked on a transformative journey to the UK, resolute in building a new life from the ground up. What ensued was an unrelenting process of crafting a foundation in an unfamiliar country, without the benefit of guidance or support. Balancing the demands of a full-time master’s degree with the rigorous preparation for the PLAB exams was nothing short of Herculean. Navigating the intricacies of the NHS system—interviews, the SJT for foundation training, and securing my first position—was fraught with challenges. Without a mentor to illuminate the way, I traversed this path through trial and error, driven by sheer determination and adaptability.

The first six months in the NHS proved equally formidable. Immersing myself in a new healthcare landscape while striving to meet the exacting standards of my consultants led to intense burnout. Yet, it was within these trials that I cultivated resilience and understood the profound importance of mentorship - a necessity sorely lacking in my own experience.

Upon reflection, it became clear that countless others face similar obstacles, grappling with the complexities of a foreign medical system without a guiding hand. The increasing uncertainty surrounding job saturation among doctors in the UK only exacerbates these challenges. This realization became the catalyst for AshSpire—a platform born from the desire to support and uplift aspiring doctors, ensuring their transition into this demanding field is not only smoother but guided by experience, insight, and a shared commitment to their success.
